Starting today, there will be a temporary ban on drinking alcohol on Cocoa Beach beaches.The city announced that possessing alcoholic beverages will also be banned on beaches. Authorities said those who violate the ban will be fined $500. The move comes after images of packed beaches across Florida have made national headlines during the coronavirus outbreak.
Bars in the city are already closed under a statewide order. Restaurants can remain open and serve alcohol, but they must cut their seating in half.
