BREVARD: Crew of the Mardi Gras from Port Canaveral saved 16 people at sea!

A cruise ship helps save the lives of 16 people stranded at sea. Last Friday morning, a Carnival Cruise ship sailing near Cuba rescued 16 people from a vessel in distress in the open sea.

The crew of the Mardi Gras spotted the boat and brought the 11 men and five women on board their ship. Medical staff from the Mardi Gras evaluated the passengers before giving them food and clothing.

The Carnival ship then met up with the U.S. Coast Guard that afternoon and transferred the passengers to a Coast Guard cutter while still at sea. It was the last day at sea for the Mardi Gras, which was scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Saturday.
