Miami International Airport is doing its part to help those traveling with autistic children. This is Autism Awareness Month, and MIA held an Airport Instruction and Readiness Tour.

Twenty-seven children with special needs and their families or guardians got to rehearse the travel experience in a safe and controlled environment in association with GlobalX Airlines.

Families practiced entering the airport, getting boarding passes, going through security and boarding a plane.

MIA officials say this is a two-way learning experience as airline and TSA workers learn how to interact with autistic passengers.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) held its 9th annual #AutismInFlight simulated travel experience for 50 participating students from seven Broward County Public Schools.
