The length of time food is left on the floor DOES influence how many germs have collected.
•The type of flooring also determines how many germs are involved.
•Food is relatively germ free if you pick it off the floor in 5 seconds or less.
•Almost 90 percent of people surveyed said they eat floor picked up from the floor.
New research from Britain finds that time really does matter with food that's fallen to the floor.  It's safer to eat food from the floor if it fell on carpet as opposed to tiled or laminate surfaces.
•The TV "Mythbusters" show found no difference in the amount of bacteria that was found in food left on the floor between two and six seconds.
