Ross Saunders and friend Johnpaul Lennon had been fishing in Australia when they caught the yellow and blue spotted creature. Blue-ringed octopuses carry enough venom to kill 26 adults in minutes – and administer the poison through tiny and often painless bites. Most victims do not realise they have been bitten until they find themselves struggling to breathe and unable to move.
