A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for parts of Brevard County. The National Weather Service posted the watch late last night for northern and southern Brevard. At last report, the NWS said the storm was less than 500 miles southeast of Cape Canaveral. Weather forecasters are watching a track for heavy rainfall potential, mainly along Florida's Atlantic coast.
As of 5 a.m., the National Hurricane Center said Potential Tropical Cyclone 9's maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph. It is moving northwest at 6 mph. And, may skirt Brevard County at 2am on Sunday.
