A rabies alert was issued for the Palm Bay area Wednesday after a stray cat tested positive for the disease. Residents and animal owners are asked to maintain a heightened state of awareness of the risk of rabies in the area.
The rabies alert will remain active for 60 days, with the center of the area near Flounder Avenue and Americana Boulevard in Palm Bay. Make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies and have no contact with wildlife.
