February 26 – March 2: The Brevard Humane Society is proud to host renowned dog trainer Joel Silverman at their Cocoa Adoption Center for a week-long CEU certification program. This one-of-a-kind course will be held for five full days and will feature hands-on training directly with Joel. The class will teach the basic principles of animal behavior along with basic training techniques utilizing adoptable dogs from the Brevard Humane Society. Students will interact with dogs at every phase of the class and they will earn the JSDT1 certification upon completion of the course. March 10 - The second planting event will be held at the Cocoa Beach Municipal Golf Course/Recreation Complex, adjacent to the Thousand Islands Nature Sanctuary 1pm-2:30pm. Address: 5000 Tom Warriner Blvd, Cocoa Beach. The Marine Resources Council has teamed with the Rotary Clubs of Brevard to restore natural living shorelines along the Indian River Lagoon. Campaign goals include improved water quality, habitat restoration, and shoreline preservation. The City of Cocoa Beach is also participating in this campaign by providing the property that will be planted. Rotary Clubs of Brevard will provide funds to support MRC’s living shoreline operations.
