January 16: The Fight Child Hunger 5K will benefit both the Children’s Hunger Project and the Sharing Center of Central Brevard. The Children’s Hunger Project serves more than 2,000 food packages every week at more than 40 elementary schools. Ever week, the Sharing Center of Central Brevard gives out 145 bags of food that provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to a family of four for a two-day period. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Viera High School. Race fees are $30 for adults and $20 for youth the day of the race and $35 for the virtual race option. January 16: Combine yoga with a cleanup when HOTY on the Island and Keep Brevard Beautiful partner for a beach yoga mini-session and a shoreline cleanup from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at Cherie Down Park, 8330 Ridgewood Ave, Cape Canaveral. HOTY founders Suzanne and Joe Elliott will lead standing yoga poses for the first 30 minutes to warm up for the clean-up. KBB will provide grabbers, buckets, latex gloves, and trash bags. January 16: Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Green Gables is the 124-year-old historic home of the Wells family, one of the generous benefactors who played a key role in the development of early Melbourne. Their vision and their generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium, the first library, establishing the first high school, and many more things in the community, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. January 16: Snowmen at Night StoryWalk at Satellite Beach Library from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Location: Satellite Beach Library. January 30: Superhero 5K and One Mile Fun Run from 7:30 am - 9:30 am. Location: The Avenue Viera, 2261 Town Center Ave, Melbourne. Cost: $25-$41. The annual Super Hero Run is a family friendly running and walking event to benefit abused and neglected children in Brevard. The event is hosted by the Friends of Children of Brevard, a non-profit 501(c)(3) registered in Florida.
