NOW - 7/28: Brevard Public Schools summer food distribution center is now open. Seven day Meal Kits will be distributed on Wednesdays only from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the following locations: Andersen Elementary (Rockledge) Port Malabar Elementary (Palm Bay) Cambridge Elementary (Cocoa) Satellite High (Satellite Beach) Johnson Middle (Melbourne) Sherwood Elementary (Melbourne) Madison Middle (Titusville) Southwest Middle (Palm Bay) Meadowlane Primary (Melbourne) Space Coast Jr/Sr High (Port St. John) Merritt Island High (Merritt Island). Parents must pre-register for meals https://www.brevardschools.org/Page/18187. Meals will be distributed to children ages 18 and younger in the bus or car loop. Each child will receive a meal package containing seven breakfast meals and seven lunch meals.
6/19: Stop by St. Anthony Orthodox Christian Church from 11am to 3pm and support their monthly BBQ Fundraiser, featuring smoked, pulled pork and 2 sides. Dessert will also be available for purchase. 6/22: Mike Sonnenschein was shot while doing missionary work in Haiti. He is now paralyzed and insurance will not cover the medical bills. Organizing in Brevard are having a fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. June 22 at USSSA Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Tickets cost $20, and they are available at the door or online at usssaspacecoast.com. Nicknamed "Ranger Mike," Sonnenschein co-founded the Viera High Army Junior ROTC program during the 2010-11 school year. He also coached the Florida Institute of Technology Army ROTC Ranger team. The Good Deeds Foundation, a nonprofit administered by the MOAA Cape Canaveral chapter, is accepting donations for the Sonnenschein family. 6/26 and 7/10: Keep Brevard Beautiful is launching its annual summer series of cleanups: June 26 at Thousand Islands Ramp Road in Cocoa Beach and July 10 at Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay.
