Sam Smith Cancels iHeartRadio Music Festival Performance, Sends Apology

Sam Smith is sending his apologies to fans after cancelling his performance at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday, September 21st in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena. 

The singer cancelled his set due to unforeseen circumstances that happened after his rehearsal for the performance later in the evening. 

Sam tweeted a message to fans who came to Vegas to see him and to those who were watching live from around the country. He wrote: 

"Dear all, Due to unforeseen circumstances which transpired after rehearsal, it became clear that I’m sadly unable to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight. I am so so sorry about this and I want to apologise to all my fans. All my love, always. Sam x"

Additionally, iHeartRadio Music Festival host Ryan Seacrest informed the crowd in the arena that Smith would not be performing. He said, "Sam is extremely sorry. He wants to apologize to all of you, all of his fans. We love Sam. Sam has been a part of our iHeart family for many, many years, and we look forward to seeing him really soon. Love you, Sam."

Friday night of the festival saw performances from artists including Fleetwood Mac, Childish Gambino, Jack White, Rae Sremmurd, Panic! at the Disco, Jason Aldean, Mariah Carey, and Kygo.
