Merritt Island Fourth of July Parade is BACK!

That Merritt Island Independence Day parade is back after 20 years! Brevard Veterans Memorial Center is helping to resurrect the patriotic procession. Staging for a Merritt Island Independence Day parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. July 4 at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High, 180 E. Merritt Ave. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and heads east along Merritt Avenue to Sykes Creek Parkway, where the procession will turn south and end at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Parkway.

The veterans center will host a post-parade Fourth of July barbecue picnic and party from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attractions include free hot dogs and hamburgers, children's games and music. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office and Brevard Veterans Memorial Center are co-hosting the parade.
