Cancer Advocates Call On Congress To Make Cancer National Priority

Hundreds of Florida cancer patients, survivors and volunteers are in the nation's capitol today urging Congress to make the fight against the deadly disease a national priority. American Cancer Society's Dr. Mario Landera, lead volunteer for the state of Florida, says they want lawmakers to ensure the treatments and drugs are more affordable and to increase cancer funding at the National Institutes of Health. It's estimated that more than 131-thousand Floridians will be diagnosed with cancer this year and 45-thousand of them will die from it.
