Report: Empty Homestead Detention Center Costing Taxpayers 33-Million

The Homestead Detention Center hasn't had any kids since August, but a new report shows Uncle Sam has spent more than 33-million keeping it up and running.Maintaining the site is costing taxpayers 720-thousand-dollars per day for more than a thousand empty beds. South Florida Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is crying foul, saying American taxpayers deserve better. She says the facility could be housing homeless children in South Florida or Hurricane Dorian victims who have lost everything in the Bahamas. She says she still hasn't received a straight answer as to where all of the children were placed this summer. The center is expected to start accepting migrant teens again next month.
