Broward Students And Teachers Rally For Education Funding In Sunrise

About 300 Broward teachers and students are gathering at the Sunrise Civic Center this morning calling on lawmakers to make education a budget priority next year. "Fund our Future" that's the message to lawmakers before the 2020 legislative session begins in January. Broward Teachers Union President Anna Fusco says education must be a priority----schools are in such bad shape, some don't have working air conditioners others are covered in mold. She says teachers wind up paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket to get supplies. Governor DeSantis says he's committed to making education a priority--he wants to increase the starting salary for teachers from 37-thousand to $47-thousand 500-dollars.
