Second Fired Broward Deputy Reinstated Following Parkland Massacre

Another Broward Sheriff's deputy on-duty during the Parkland school shooting will get his job back, with back pay.

State law requires any discipline against officers must happen within 180 days following an investigation. An arbitrator ruled Sheriff Gregory Tony missed that deadline by 13 days when he fired Josh Stambaugh. Stambaugh is accused of taking cover and then leaving the campus during the 2018 shooting.

Sergeant Brian Miller was reinstated four months ago after arbitration determined Sheriff Tony missed a deadline by two days.

Broward Sheriff's Office is appealing both decisions. A third fired deputy will have his case heard later this year.
