FBI Plans News Conference This Afternoon on Laundrie Search

Breaking: An FBI news conference is planned for 4:30 p.m. Wed. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction around Venice, Florida, believed to be tied to the Laundrie search.

NORTH PORT -- New developments today in the on-going search for Brian Laundrie.

NBC News is reporting that partial human remains have been found next to a backpack in an area previously underwater. This follows earlier developments reported below.

There's now a massive police presence in the Myakkahatchee Environmental Park in Sarasota County, as "personal articles" belonging to him have been found.

A tent has been pitched inside the park and there is a report that the district Medical Examiner has been sent to the scene.

The FBI in Tampa says "items of interest were located at the Carlton Reserve" and that an FBI evidence response team is processing the scene.

News Channel 8 in Tampa read this statement from the Laundrie family's attorney, Steven Bertolino:

"Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to (the park) this morning to search for Brian. The FBI and North Port police were informed last night... and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning... after a brief search of the trail that Brian frequented, some items belonging to Brian Laundrie have been found."

Brian Laundrie has been missing since mid-September. He remains a person of interest in Gabby Petito's disappearance and death. He is charged federally with bank fraud for allegedly using her card and PIN to withdraw money.
