Governor Ron DeSantis reportedly will formally enter the 2024 presidential race next week.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, two people familiar with the Republican governor's plans say DeSantis will kick off his campaign for the GOP nomination as he gathers top fundraisers in Miami.
Gov. Ron DeSantis will likely be filing his presidential bid with the Federal Election Commission before an official confirmation is made during that GOP fundraiser at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami next week.. Rules mandate a candidate file first before being allowed to solicit donations.
DeSantis also is expected to launch his candidacy with an event after Memorial Day in his hometown of Dunedin.
The second-term governor, currently considered the most viable GOP challenger to former president Donald Trump, has been laying the groundwork for a campaign for months.
