Local girl Caroline Marks won her heat in the Women’s Surfing Shortboard and will advance to Round 3 of the Tokyo Olympics.
Marks from Melbourne Beach represents Team USA of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics women’s surfing event. Carissa Moore, also representing USA and is Marks’ teammate.

Due to the surf conditions forecast for Tsurigasaki Beach, the surfing medal finals have been moved forward to tonight. The starting order will begin with the men's quarterfinals, followed by the women's quarterfinals, then the men's semifinals, and women's semifinals. The men's and women's bronze medal matches will also take place before the men's and women's gold medal matches.
