Things got messy on a California freeway after several chickens crossed the road yesterday morning. Upwards of 25 live chickens possibly fell of a truck, prompting the closure of one lane from the southbound side of the 605-Freeway in Downey to the 105 Freeway. CHP says that seventeen chickens were rescued and two “unfortunately went to chicken heaven.” The lane opened about an hour later as Animal Control worked to remove the birds from the roadway.
