Gotta love living on the Space Coast! A Rare Right Whale and it’s baby Calf was spotted just off Cocoa Beach last week. The mother was nicknamed Halo.
The whales can reach 60 feet long and weigh 180,000 pounds. Nine newborn calves have been spotted this season. The nine births are more than the last two years combined, but the longer-term trend shows births are declining, and are not enough to sustain the tiny population of just 400 right whales.
