Gov. Ron DeSantis will visit Brevard County Thursday to announce that the county will host the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games.
This will be the second time the AAU Junior Olympic Games will be held on the Space Coast. The games likely will be held during the last week in July and the first week in August.
Around 2,000 to 3,000 people are expected to attend. Indoor, outdoor track and field events, will be held primarily at Brevard School District venues. Other outdoor events will be held primarily at Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department venues.
DeSantis says bringing the event to Florida will have a big impact on the economy. He is is expected to make the announcement Thursday in Viera.
