Female Business Owners Have Better Work-Life Balance

A survey of a thousand female small business owners finds that 73% say their work-life balance has improved since they stopped working somewhere else and opened their own business.

And six in 10 admit they’re still stressed out every day.

The survey also finds:

  • The top concerns these female small business owners share include funding (42%), fatigue (23%) and finding employees (13%).
  • Some of them started their business out of necessity, as 28% say they were let go or laid off before opening their own business.
  • More than half of them (55%) are running their businesses from home, which comes with challenges including “Always being on the clock,” “Balancing distractions,” “staying on task,” “organizing space” and “managing work-life in the same space.”
  • While 35% of respondents employ family members, 19% say it’s against their philosophy to hire relatives.
  • Overall, 70% of female small business owners enjoy being their own boss more than anything else.
