Eyewitnesses have spotted the brightly colored lizard along Biolab Road, a dirt lane hugging the Mosquito Lagoon south of Haulover Canal. Green iguanas are a non-native species that inhabits the Florida Keys. The population extends northward along both coasts to Martin and Lee counties, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports. The critters usually mate in October through November — and some adult males become orange during breeding season, the FWC reports.
