LIST: How To Stay Fit And Stress Less During The Holidays

Tips to stay fit and ease stress over the holiday season:

  • Use “habit stacking” to add more daily exercise- Make sure you’re getting some exercise every day by adding the habit to an established one. Try adding some push-ups or squats to something you already do daily, like brushing your teeth or making your bed, so the routine is easier for you to maintain.
  • Multitask your mobile screen time- Use the time you spend scrolling through your phone to do some core and leg-strengthening wall sits. They’re really good for you and can even help improve your posture, but they’re challenging, so you won’t want to hold them for long and could even help you cut down on your screen time, which is good for your mental health. Bonus!
  • Squeeze in a four-minute high-intensity workout- No matter how busy you are this time of year, you can probably find four minutes in the day to exercise. Less really is more with high-intensity interval training, studies have shown itcan burn 25% to 30% more caloriesin a shorter amount of time than other forms of exercise and it’s also effective at decreasing belly fat.
  • Make time to de-stress and recover- This includes making sleep a priority so your body has time to repair and replenish itself and even squeezing in a short nap if you feel like you need an energy boost. And taking a few minutes a day to unplug and unwind is just as important as exercising for your body and mind.
