BREVARD: Gov. DeSantis at Eau Gallie High School

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday proposed using a portion of the COVID-19 relief money provided to Florida for a vocational education program. DeSantis announced the "Get There Faster" Initiative during a news conference Monday at Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne.

It's the only vocational training program of its kind in the nation, Brevard Superintendent Mark Mullins said Monday. Altogether, the Brevard School District offers 42 career training programs, and nearly half of all BPS student graduate with at least one certification, he said.

Eligible students would have to be dual-enrolled in a Florida College System institution or technical career center and in a credentialed career or technical education or workforce program.
