Rays Beat Twins In Extras To Win Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (4-5) defeated the Minnesota Twins (3-6) 4-1 in ten innings on Sunday afternoon to win the three-game series. For the Rays, it was their first series win of the season.

Matt Wallner hit a solo homer for the Twins to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Junior Caminero tied the game in the fourth inning with a solo homer to make it 1-1. That would remain the score heading into the tenth inning. In the tenth, it was Richie Palacios delivering the knockout blow, hitting a huge two-run home run. Moments later Junior Caminero accepted a bases loaded walk that made it 4-1 which would prove to be the final score.

Nick Martinez got the start and allowed one earned run on one hit in six innings of work while striking out four and walking one. Bryan Baker (1-0, 0.00) earned thie win out of the bullpen, while Kevin Kelly earned his second save of the season after working a scoreless tenth inning.

The Rays now head home to re-open Tropicana Field on Monday - it will be the first game at the stadium since Hurricane Milton damaged the roof. Shane McClanahan (0-1, 3.86) is scheduled to start the first game of the three-game series against the Cubs.
