Local Law Enforcement Runs for Special Olympics

The ‘Flame of Hope’ torch passed through West Melbourne yesterday as runners headed up Minton Road to the city’s police department. Several other Brevard police agencies also took part of the event.

They are among the 300 Florida police agencies who participate each year. The goal is to raise awareness for the Special Olympics. About 5,000 officers run alongside the torch as it passes through the state's 67 counties every year.
