Here are some things you should leave off your nightstand:
Open Drinks: For obvious reasons; one sleepy flail of the arms can cause a mess. Bottles with the caps on is the way to go if you must have a drink on standby
Jewelry: When you remove your jewelry, don't leave it on the nightstand. Small pieces, like earrings, can be knocked off and get lost. Treat your valuables to a safer resting place
Electronics: Again, most of us leave our phones nearby. The problem with that is (you already know this), alerts in the middle of the night can interrupt sleep, plus the temptation to scroll if you wake up in the middle of the night is there. Move your devices further away
